I retired just over a year ago and found out Medicare does not pay for glasses. I figured I'd just do an advantage plan when the new year started but was convinced that I should not sign up for an advantage plan. At the time when I saved enough money for glasses, I received a letter from VSP, stating I could get the same VSP coverage that I had when working. I was soooo happy! Thank you!
I am tickled with the superiority of this insurance over Medicare. I can afford new glasses annually as opposed to having to wait for appreciable vision loss. I only rated it 4 rather than 5 stars because to get 5 from me I'd have to get my eyewear without out-of-pocket payment (unrealistic, but my threshold).

The best eye care I have found. I have severe problems with my sight, VSP is the best eye insurance, covers everything I need many years now. They do have frames, free, as well as to pay a certain %. I am very content over 9 years now. I have recommended successfully VSP to my family and friends.

Approvals are fast, both eye Doctors readily accept VSP AND, while we tend to buy high-end frames (like Tom Ford, Persol, Ray Ban/Meta etc...), it's AMAZING how much this insurance credits us against those pricier options. The plan cuts my eye glasses/exam cost in half! I would save more, but I get all the bells and whistles - tint, non-scratch and such. It's an excellent insurance.

I've been using VSP now for about 5 or 6 years and they've been absolutely amazing. I've been wearing glasses for 35 years and the past years with VSP has changed everything for my eyes. I didn't know what to expect with access to Optometrist and was beyond surprised with the Optometrist in their network. As a matter of fact, the last two Optometrist I've had while using VSP has been the greatest level of care and diagnosis in the past 35 years of wearing glasses. I have an astigmatism and keratoeonus, so the lenses I need are special and more expensive than the average lens. VSP allows me to get the best lenses available so I can see as clear as possible at an affordable price. I've recommended VSP to several friends and they started using them and couldn't be happier.

Like another reviewer, I was skeptical when an optometrist recommended VSP coverage. I asked him what the catch was, and he said there wasn’t a catch. After years of paying high prices for necessary eyewear, I decided I would try it for a year, and this small investment saved me about $500 right off the bat! I was so happy, I purchased VSP coverage for another family and we just renewed our plans. My employer does offer coverage, but it does not compare to VSP. I highly recommend this coverage to anyone, whether they need prescription eyewear or not.

I retired over two years ago and lost my vision plan. I could have kept it; however, the cost was too much for the substandard policy. I did my research, and found VSP.
